Svetlana Howe

About the Artist

Svetlana Howe is a Laramie, Wyoming based artist who uses watercolor to create original artwork of beautiful florals and local landscapes. The beauty of western land’s prairies, soothing colors, stunning cloud formations, mountain vistas, and amazing skies inspire her to capture Wyoming’s many moods in her watercolors. Svetlana was born and raised in Russia. She learned the basic principles of composition, perspective, and art techniques during her Youth Art School. After High School she completed Technical University with an MA in mechanical engineering and taught some technical subjects in Saratov Industrial College. But her passion for art brought her back and she obtained an MFA at Ural State University and Saratov State Art College with a major in “Fine art and fashion design". At this time, she started her own business as a designer and did that for 7 years until moving to the US. Once Svetlana moved to the United States, she began focusing more on her art, and has been a member of several fine art galleries across the Front Range. In Laramie, she taught classes at the Laramie Community College and the Eppson center for several years. Watercolor is Svetlana's favorite media. She always wants her painting to bloom in unpredictable ways to capture her feelings and create an expressive spontaneous effect. She has a great passion to express the wonder of God’s creation using this fascinating media. She believes that every artist should never stop learning and will always be in the process of discovering new things.
