The exhibition will be open on Saturday, November 11th, 2023 from 10am to 5pm and Sunday, November 12th from 12pm to 4pm at the Wyoming Territorial Prison Historic Site at 975 Snowy Range Road in Laramie, Wyoming.
Nancy will be showing new and never before seen work of her mixed water media that frequently uses vintage or ephemeral paper scraps to collage on hardboard or canvas followed by mixed water media. She has been a member of the Laramie Artists Project and exhibiting Touchstone artist since 2018.
About the Artist
In her paper landscapes, Nancy utilizes ephemeral and modern print brochures, pamphlets, books, and magazines as her base layer. Ripping, tearing, and otherwise repurposing these materials—whose normal purpose was to inform, to education or even entertain—she aims to encourage the question of, “is there a normal?” After adding multiple layers of paper, she often sands, peels, and reapplies more paper before painting with watercolor, gouache, and ink. She hopes to challenge the concept of traditional watercolor landscape painting while tackling the assumption that “normal” exists.
