About the Artist
Ginnie's artistic goal is to create work that expresses her interest and delight in both the natural and man-made worlds., Most of this imagery starts with firsthand observations of the world around her. The prints are created by carving into a linoleum plate to create shapes and texture areas. This method results in a simplified or abstracted image. Ultimately it is this process that allows her to get beyond observation and to discover the essence of the experience of what is observed. She uses a printing process that results in a limited, hand printed edition, usually between 8 and 12 prints. Ginnie grew up in Chicago, and moved to the West in the 70’s. She raised a family in Laramie, received an MFA from the University of Wyoming and had the opportunity to teach drawing, sculpture and print making classes at UW for about 10 years.
